Across the Ussuri Region

Vladimir Arsenyev describes journeys through the Ussuri region and his acquaintance with the guide Dersu Uzala. Forest routes and encounters with local inhabitants introduce the landscapes and ways of life of the Russian Far East. Geographical and natural observations form part of a continuous travel narrative. Arsenyev shows how trust develops between companions and how local knowledge shapes an expedition, combining the excitement of adventure with the detail of an eyewitness account.
