Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens

At just seven days old, Peter Pan flies out of his nursery window and returns to Kensington Gardens. He still remembers being a bird, but discovers that he belongs fully to neither the human nor the bird world. Among talking birds and fairies, he finds a place in the Gardens’ secret life after the gates close. J. M. Barrie tells an earlier story of Peter, before the adventures with Wendy and Captain Hook. Music, magical encounters and night-time wanderings are touched by longing for his mother and home. The tale balances the freedom of an enchanted childhood with the sadness of separation.
